hi guys,
just wondering about your views on high octane petrol used on the pitpro 125s... i heard its ok to use high octane but shell optimax is bad for the bike. is this the case with all high octane petrols? also with the 4 stroke oil, is what the best brand to use or are they all basically the same?
cheers
I would say that unless you've advanced timing or increased compression you're basaclly got a postie bike motor that will run on 91 ron pump gas. Then again ive got a crazy idea that the 98 fuels are stored better and cleaner (less water and dirt in them).
I only run BP ultimate in my road bike and it seems to be the done thing. Shell optimax is supposed to have fine particles that are supposed to clean your car injectors and are supposed to cause dramas with road bikes. And abrasive particles in my intake charge dont sound too appetizing. This might be a myth but ive decided to steer clear.
But I guess I run ultimate for my pit bike because thats getting thrashed on trails up steep ass hills with my 95kgs on board. Higher octane fuel will help your engine run cooler in high load situations would be my reason for using it. plus your mini only uses like stuff all fuel so it dosent cost much more in the long run.
