They will fit but you will need some decent fabrication skills to make a buggy. When I got mine I looked around at a lot of buggys and there are a couple of options.

1. Lifan do a motor which looks very similar to a standard pit bike motor but has one reverse gear (this is a very very good feature) and I have seen them on ebay.

2. There is plenty of 110cc buggies on ebay which have auto clutch engines but the close up pictures show the mountings, gear linkage etc.

3. The above buggies are cheap as. I have a very good work shop and access to a lathe, mill and plenty of other equiipment and I wouldnt consider building one when I could get one for $700 as to build a better one would take probably 50 hours and still cost more for parts (wheels, axel, sprockets, bearings, engine, seat, plus heaps of little things like grease nipples)

4. check out the edge buggies for DIY plans

This is the kind of thing I was referring to. If you killed the engine you could rig up a clutch and put a 140cc lifan in easy as.

oh nice i see what you mean, it was for my little sister and me.. so i think 125 would be enough, yes just one seater! so would i have the engine at the back and run a sprocket on the rear axel conect it up the the sprocket on the motor?

You can put the engine on your right hand side (fuel tank on the left to balance it out a bit) and that way you can have a direct gear shift lever to the engine. This would save a lot of mucking about with linkages etc but might look a bit gay. I still recon it would be better to just buy one if you are looking at only 125cc.

IMO if you are going to spend the time and $$$$ to build one then you should build one that hammers and use a second hand road bike engine.

125cc 4 stroke motor would be a total waste of time, what u need is a 125 or 250cc 2-stroke motor!

Hi ppls

came across this post in my web travels

I have a 125cc lifan 5 speed engine fitted to a go kart
it runs a 32 rear sprocket and 17 front sprocket
all linkages are fabricated or parts used from a superkart to complement the build.
It runs a fuel pump just under the seat, can run lights many other electrics,
it has clutch fitted to the steering and standard rear brakes.
electric startbutton on wheel as well as kill switch.

The kart runs sweet bit loud for night driving sofar
the overall top speed im not sure, havnt been clocked yet,
but with a 17 Front sprocket and 32 Rear the gear "currently running" still too tall and can push past the 120 brakcet with a 26T to 22T rear sprocket,
you could probably go as low as 10 to 12 rear teeth and alter the front sprocket i have a selection 12,15,17 front sprockets to play with at tracks.

overall runs sweet no comparison to a 2 stroke engine, tho the 4 stroke has gobs of torque due to 4 stroke engine and small wheels on kart.

Im happy with it, can hit good top speed with ease , 3rd gear donughts
starts first time every time, can fit an oil cooler a mega low ratio, then a KP31 turbocharger for extra Nutz, there will be gob smax of torque and smiles for miles,

heres a speed chart to help kickstart your desire , go-kart racing Gear Ratio Calculator

enjoys the pics
