wondering about this.. would like to be able to keep a record of time, distance, etc also.. Thinking possibly a pushbike CATEYE style option.. just cant recall if they wheel sizing will allow for it.. certainly the best, option i can think of.. would give you average speed, odo, time, elapsed time, max speed, some have back lighting also..

yeh i think the speedo would be easy part it's the wheel that will be the problem. maybe there is some kind of universal adaptor available?
those road reg Z50 knockoffs would be a good place to start.

ok.. MINIMUM WHEEL SIZE FOR A CATEYE SPEEDO IS 14.5"
so a speedo is EASILY fitted.. will be 95% accurate depending..

some models have a setting so they can be set between two different wheel sizes.. for example your standard MTB wheel 26x2.1 and you can can have the second setting for your road bike 700x28.
These would be the models (with the duel wheel size setting to go for)

Well, i got bored today, so ripped the Cateye Velo 8 out of the spares draw and fitted it up to the 29'er.. works good! still playing with wheel measurements but she is 95% spot on...

The sensor is a screw in magnet type(OME from cateye) the pickup sensor has been ziptied in place through the fork shroud, nice and stable, nice and close..

The speedo itself is mounted inbetween the tripple clamps.. a little bit of dbl sided tape ensures it wont go walkabout over the rough stuff...

The Large dispaly and features are good and give an accurate read-out on riding time, distance covered both in total and per ride, max speed, Avr. speed, 12/24 hr clock. Not a bad purchase for $35.. Next is Li-po halogens Lights
Sorry about the quality of the pics, the camera had flat batteries and the ol mobile phone was the next best thing!
