Hummer

Got an Atomik Hummer 7 weeks ago, have had great run with 70cc Thumpster, so thought this is ok.

Came with broken kill/ starter switch, got new one sent. Had broken throttle, none in stock, so I got an alloy one locally.

Kick stand fell off first ride, thread for bolt too sloppy, and pivot bolt thread too short to put lock nut on. Made new pivot pin, all now ok.

While using clutch, lever broke. New one fitted.

Chain kept stretching, broke 6 teeth of rear sprocket. Sprocket over hardened and was brittle. Checked front sprocket and found it hardly had any depth in lands and was hammering itself to death. It had 15T / 47T sprockets. Could only get 17T / 54T which was slightly lower than std ratios. Got new quality chain. All was ok again. Got 16T front sprockets which made bike great for pickup without losing top end speed. Allen bolts holding sprocket and brake disc on soft crap, some had cracked and near sheered through, took all out and replaced with unbrakos.

Bike was idling on kickstand while opening gate (had to get off bike for this), stand sunk in dirt, bike fell over in mud = broken clutch lever and bent handle bars. It broke the bolt holding bark busters on in process, took things off.

Gear shift link with ball joints now totally worn out already, will make new one that lasts.

Other comments:-
Carby adjuster screw behind alloy frame and very hard to adjust.
Fuel tap inside frame and also very hard to use.
Atomik spares expensive and hard to deal with
Chain adjusters weak, one cracked so 2 new ones were made up.
Did all the tightening and loctite stuff, but still s**t happens.

Sorry we got it.

We will get the thing going ok, just thought I would let others know what they are like. Motor etc is no worries, just assembly and fittings are crap.

Have read other posts re 250cc quality, did not find forum until now so have learnt hard way.

Like I said, other smaller Atomik bikes we have seen have been ok, assumption that all are ok is wrong.

Problem also is we are relying on internet info to make decisions on.

Another way to look at it the bike was $1055. Spend $5000 plus on a good one, what would it be worth in two years (even if it is still going great). You could dump the Hummer at two and still have your moneys worth of fun. Hope that reads ok.

sorry hear yor bad luck mate

that bites but like you said all can be fixed i spose {still pisses ya of tho}

me would never buy a 250 in a chiny thing (mind you i own 4 chinys) all pittys tho

i'd be way to scared to ride 1 fast or jump 1

the pittys i have seem to be ok only got 1 agb i got from Atomik
never brought parts of them

it's an ok bike but dam heavy so i would hate to think what 1 of those hummers weigh

shame i only sold a RM 125 99 mod to a mate the other week for 1,500
that would have been a way better bike for ya

i tryed to list it here but as i was make the post my mate said WTF here's the money

hope you have more luck with your bike mate and all turns out well
