Hello, just returned to this forum after a long break...
I've got a DHZ Monster pro 140 for coming to a year now, but mine is a 2007 model with the black Koyo fork & under-footrest-brake-pedal. Personally I feel it beats our Motovert Expert anyday, in both handling and power spread. No offence to Motovert owners, my group here had 1 Motovert too, it's my honest opinion.
The downsides:
As mentioned, we get what we pay. Being a China product afterall, my 2007 DHZ came w some minor issues, but nothing some wrenching can't fix.
The rear brakes require some re-alignment, one side of the brake pad was binding the disc. So I need to machine off some material from the hub spacer.
The rims wasn't trued centre, but with some bicycle experience, I roughly got them fixed.
The subframe bolts needed some loctite to keep them tight, and the kickstarter wasn't the most solid piece of steel. I replaced the kickstarter w one from a Yamaha scooter, worked great now.
Most components on the DHZ monster pro are OK, altho it'll be good if we upgrade them. Like sparkplug cable, on/off switch, saddle foam, grips and kickstarter.
The good points.
Top notch tyres. Smooth, powerful engine. Nice PC-replica exhuast pipe.
REAL motorcycle brake calipers. KMC chain. REAL steering cone bearings, triple clamps n wheel axle.
During the course of past year, the bike was ridden at average of twice a month. Sometimes just track days, other times club races. Just last month and also the week before, it hit the motocross tracks too. This thing jumps well, given the correct size tabletops. I've went for some trail rides adjacent the track, and it was a blast too.
The DHZ stands out in handling due to its long travel shocks and almost full-size-dirtbike-like frame geometry. I would say it's close to a KLX110 in handling, only difference is the long travel suspensions ( equates to higher CG) and 140 powerplant, that'll take time to get used to.
I can say alot more about it's good and bad, but this will get too long to read. So till next time.
P.S. After falling in love w my DHZ, my group bought another 3 similar bikes, but 2008 models. In my opinion, the 08 model doesn't carry forward a few good bits from the 07. Too bad there's no more 07, if not I'll say get the 07 model.
