Australia's Own RC Portal is a good place for RC info.. and if buget is low a second hand car can often be more value for money.. as long as its in a reasonable condition of course..

personally, for onroad.. id stick with electric.. you dont have the mess of a nitro, dont have to worry about purchasing fuel, air cleaners, oils, tuning, then there is the run in, gear meshs(which ALWAYS go out of whack)..

drifting is better with an electric to(if that tickles your fancy) nitro needs the air to cool the motor so while it does sound cool and look sweet with the smoke, it does take its toll on the running gear(engines/drivetrain)

electric is the way man.. the Tamiya tt01 or is it TL01 now? are a good starter kit.. will find a few links to some hobby shops in aus. they come as a RTR package, car built, charger, control, body painted, just charge it and go.. and they accept all the standard tamiya parts BONUS! if you go for a no name or cheaper car, getting replacement parts can often be difficult, as hobby shops know a car that isnt local to australia and will often just snub you.. sux but its what they do!

something like this: Product Details you will need to purchase a charger and battery though)

if you like the body dont let that deter you. consider it a starting point.. more often than not they are pretty interchangeable... as long as you stay within the scale...

another good one is:
RCHobbies.com.au
HIGHLY suggest RChobbies..will beat prices or at least match those of other stores.. they go that extra mile which as in everything.. counts..

hope tis helped sheepy.. its not something to dive into.. research it a little, and see what others suggest..

if i get another onroad RC.. im going for one of these... RCHobbies.com.au
and offroad.. one of these:
RCHobbies.com.au

the lancer over the pan car.... 4wd better control, its based on a tamiya chassis so parts SHOULD interchange and be available..

personally.. id say save up a few coins more and get a proper TAMIYA model.. the quality will be 100% better, will parts WILL fit(without being ground or modified), its like the choice in purchasing a crf50 or an atomik 21... one is the REAL deal and will last with no faults.. the other is cheaply based on the original, with less quality parts used.. hence the price...

look at the Tamiya RTR kits.. a few extra bucks but worth spending..

otherwise if you are dead keen on something from fleebay.. try the GV models.. they do the falcooon and bomadores.. both in nitro and elec.. think their distributor is model flight....

still say for the $200-$300 price range, and for a new decent car, id go the tamiya.. tl01-tt01.. you cant go wrong...

or you could be totally different and stick with the tamiya and go the mo3(front wheel drive)

would steer clear of a nitro as a first decent Rc as tuning, and such can be a right PITA. electric is as simple as charge and go..
