if its still there after all this work, than yeah all iam gonna do is raise it a tad lol,

its annoying cause iam not the person to ignore things, if i know its there than it needs to be fixed hehe, some days i just wish id learn to ignore things and thrash it haha,

yeah its the ST50, iam seriously thinking of just replacing the china engine, with a CRF50 Honda, atleast its money going towards a decent engine...

Would you be able to slip a CT110 or 90 out of a postie in it and keep it regoed? That is what I would be checking first as it would go like ....... a z50 with a postie engine I suppose.

I once "rebuilt" a 1400 datsun engine into a 1200 to get a blue slip. It was the most powerfull 1200 around LOL.

be interesting to see how it treats you now.
did you check the ring gap and piston to bore clearance? because that scuff at the top of the piston looks like its picked up in the bore a bit from being too hot.
also what rpm is it idling at because if its too low it will ping off idle when hot because the fuel heats up as well thus raising cylinder temps. (the chamber hasnt had any polishing done has it because thats a no no on normally aspirated engines)
also when installing the new rings just be sure all the gaps are 180 degree's away from each other..

if it continues to do it, get it to the temp that it happens and get a infared heat gun and measure the temp...
the hotter the engine the thinner the oil goes, and it only takes a smidgon of oil for and engine to ping.

cheers

Update:

went for a 20km ride tonight, power is great, perfect through the whole rev range...

but its still there, but iam now thinking its not igniton knock!!!

whilst idling and you give it a quick rev, it will make a SINGLE KNOCK and thats it (BUT it only takes 10 secs of letting it cool and the knock goes away!!) until you get it hotter again.

i didnt hone the cylinder, as the original honing pattern was still visable,

the ring gap was .3

so i dunno where to go now, i think ill just keep riding it, and if something breaks atleast than ill know where the problem was hehe

Maybe check your cam chain adjuster. If it is hydralic like most of them are it may be bleeding off at idle when the oil pressure is at its lowest and hottest. Maybe give the spring in it a small stretch. I think its acessable externally. ????????? Might be worth a try.
